Hospitality is life
Friday Mar 24, 2023
Friday Mar 24, 2023
Hospitality is life itself. Humans need to be accepted by other humans. They need to know their life has a place and a purpose.
This episode is a little different. Rather than a conversation or interview, Liv Booth reads a piece she wrote about the beauty of hospitality. Part memoir, part reflection, Liv shares several formative experiences of hospitality and how they have shaped her and taught her honesty, vulnerability and trust. Hospitality is life and it comes in many forms. Join us to hear Liv share about grand expressions of hospitality like Easter Feast as well as simple, two-chair hospitality in small apartments. Sit back and allow this vision of hospitality to bless and inspire you.

The Three Hardest Things to Say
Friday Mar 10, 2023
Friday Mar 10, 2023
The three hardest things to say in the English language are, "I'm sorry, I need help, and Worcestershire sauce."
Join the conversation as we explore how challenging it is to truly admit our faults and ask for help. We discover that the ability to say I'm sorry and admit our limitations does not come from within us. We are enabled when God shows himself to us as a compassionate, forgiving God who won't damn us when we admit our faults to him.

What is Spiritual Direction - With Tara Owens
Friday Feb 24, 2023
Friday Feb 24, 2023
In this episode, Brandon interviews Tara Owens about spiritual direction. They talk about the ancient roots of spiritual direction in the church and how it differs from discipleship and counseling. They emphasize and explore how spiritual direction really does not have an agenda. A fundamental aspect of spiritual direction is trusting that God is present, desiring to be with you and that this is enough of an agenda. Spiritual direction isn’t a replacement for other key aspects of Christian growth such as preaching, teaching, and evangelism. Rather, it is like a table leg that works alongside those things to bring stability and wholeness to our journey with God. Join us for the discussion and explore what Spiritual Direction really is all about.

What do I do with my sin? (Fixed episode)
Friday Nov 18, 2022
Friday Nov 18, 2022
Brandon and Peter are drawn into a conversation about realistic expectations for the Christian life. The questions stem from a passage in, “Interior Freedom” by Jacques Philippe in which Philippe remarks that we waste our time and stunt our spiritual growth if we focus on our sins and limitations. The central issue becomes clear as the conversation progresses: If I have been fully redeemed and freed from sin by Jesus’ death on the cross, why do I not experience this freedom from sin? What do I do with my sin? The beatitudes lead Peter and Brandon to consider grief and acceptance as the proper response to one’s sin. They end with a discussion of the cycle of the Christian life being one of continual repentance.
